Artisteer 3x with version 2.3.6.6

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting my Artisteer templates to work with the latest version, I've tried everything I can think and they just don't seem to be working.

Using Artisteer30-verticalmenu1 as a base

  1. I open the artx file and modify the images and color schemes.
  2. I Export the html format
  3. Copy the css, js & image file to a copy of the base theme
  4. Add the elements to the theme.skin from the sticky
  5. Zip the folder and upload it
  6. When I select view there's no css applied at all

I've applied the theme and checked the csshandler.ashx and all I see is a blank page.

I've noticed that with the latest release of Artisteer the art-menu class has been renamed to art-hmenu (not sure what other changes there are).

Any suggestions what else I can try?

I've looked through the documentation thinking I would build the theme from scratch but can't get my head round some of it, are the any plans to create a tutorial that covers creating a basic skin?

Thanks

Bert

Re: Artisteer 3x with version 2.3.6.6

Hi Bert, first off we need to be careful about Artisteer versions, and "Artisteer 3x" is not precise enough. mojoPortal 2.3.6.6. is set up to work with Artisteer 3.0 only, so if you're using RC1 or a prior beta, you should upgrade. One other red flag I see is that you should not need to do step #4. If you overlay your Artisteer export on top of the Artisteer30-verticalmenu1 files from the 2.3.6.6 version of mojoPortal (found in /Data/skins/Artisteer30-verticalmenu1), then those changes will already be in place and won't need to be added manually. The "important skin updates" are strictly for people who need to update their already existing skins when upgrading to a new version.

Other than that, in general it sounds like what you are doing is right. The only piece I haven't personally tried is deploying a skin via zip file like you have done. If you have access to the server, you should make sure that the directory /Data/Sites/[site number]/skins/[your skin] exists, and has all of the appropriate files in it.

About the tutorial, there is a document about creating a skin from Artisteer 3, but I suspect you have already looked at that.

Re: Artisteer 3x with version 2.3.6.6

Make sure you use the skins from /Data/skins when copying a skin for the starting point, those are the only up to date skins, we never touch other skins in site folders during upgrades. When you start with the updated skins you should not need to add anything to theme.skin. Those instructions are for upgrading skins that you have already customized from previous versions. All the skins that we ship in the /Data/skins folder are up to date.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Artisteer 3x with version 2.3.6.6

I'm using Artisteer 3.0.0.39952 which is the latest public release.

I've been:

Using the Data\Skin as the base template to copy the new files into.

Testing the skins using both a local/publish version of the site.

I'm using the deployment 2.3.6.6 from May 29th and a Source from a few days later, I've been working my way through the developer tutorials (Which are great).

I'm happy to supply the zip file if anyone wants to look at it.

All suggestions welcome.

Bert

Re: Artisteer 3x with version 2.3.6.6

Found the problem. I'd a space in the Folder name so "my skin" should have been "my_skin" don't know why I thinking think about it before, could just kick myself.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Bert
