I am configuring my site to be nothing but a blog and want a simple, elegant feed option for visitors to use. From what I can tell when poking at the blog configuration settings, there are a few different options available to me that will allow users to get RSS and email feeds.
1. Click "Show Feed Links" under Feed Settings to get a single RSS button in the right column.
2. Do #1 and click "Show Add Feed Links" to get the AddThis feed buttons, too.
3. Use IntenseDebate and turn on the Feed and email Subscribe features. (I haven't tested this myself, so I'm assuming a lot.)
None of these three fit my needs ideally. Explanation of why...
* #1 doesn't include email subscription, plus I can't figure out how to change the icon from "RSS" to the small orange RSS logo icon.
* #2 is bulky because it adds buttons, rather than replace the "RSS" button from MP. And, it takes users to the AddThis web site instead of integrating directly into my site's UI. This is too complicated.
* #3 is only available at the bottom of posts, if I understand correctly. Again, I have not tested it directly, but have seen it on your MP site (www.mojoportal.com), so that's the basis of my assumption.
Any suggestions how I can configure MojoPortal to provide my users with an aesthetically pleasing, braindead simple subscription process to RSS and email feeds?
Ideally the feed feature will:
* be in the right column, not integrated into the comment area of the blog.
* have a single, configurable RSS button icon to click that will take the visitor to their default RSS client when they click it.
* offer a simple text box and subscribe/submit button for email subscriptions.
Thanks.
