Alias-feature

Hi Joe!

I have been looking at the e-commerse function for a while now.

I would like to have the possibility to build the site content and navigation and on special product pages add a purchase button, instead of having to go to the store and navigate to the Items from there. I have previously suggested this, but understand that it would require a technical solution with some quirks that is not a very good solution.

However, I have an Idea (or two actually) of another way to do this which might be a better approach.

Actually the product description pages in the store does have its own url and contains everything I want, like this one for example: http://www.mojoportal.com/event-calendar-pro-product.aspx

it would be great to have the possibility to build the store and create those pages and then link the content to another page in the normal menu-system.

From an administrators perspective this could be achieved by first making a new page the normal way which connects to the menu-system and then there would be a new alternative to type the url for another page (in this case the product detail page) so the contents of this page will be shown, but the url and the menu would be as a normal page. An alias-feature sort of.

Another possible solution would be to develop a new content feature which could be added anywhere which shows content from another url. This would really be nice and could easily be used for other things than the e-commerce as well. It would also be nice to be able to add extra content on the same page.

I understand that this will not be foolproof and it would be possible to create strange loops and so on, but that would be the fault of the administator who should only blame themselves if doing such stupid things :-)

I am not a developer so it is difficult to estimate how difficult it would be to implement, but the second suggestion might not be that hard to accomplish, would it? It certainly would be much appreciated by me at least.

very best
