Form Wizard Pro File Upload Enhancement

Hello,

We just recently purchased Form Wizard Pro and are in need of an enhancement. We take surveys of students who receive scholarships and would like them to be able to upload a picture of themselves along with the other questions in the form. Would it be possible to add this as an additional question type that would upload to a defined directory and then record the file name of the picture each student uploaded in the same form submission results? I could also see this feature getting used for talent contests where people could submit their work like songs, photos and art work. Thanks for your consideration of this enhancement.

Hi Tim,

File upload is a frequently requested feature for Form Wizard and something I'm contemplating how to implement, but there are technical reasons it will be very difficult to implement as a question type. The Form Wizard uses an UpdatePanel and doing file uploads inside an UpdatePanel is really difficult to get working smoothly even if one does manage to get it working. What I'm thinking of is having a setting on the form to enable file upload and then after completing the form redirecting to a different page without an UpdatePanel to allow the file upload. Not sure how soon I will get to it but that is the most feasible solution I have in mind for it at the moment.

fyi, Form Wizard Pro 2.6 is now available and has support for file uploads.

I have newest Form Wizard Pro with File Upload feature. Unfortunately if you select "Allowed Uploads" >0 then it requires you do to the upload not just allows it. When you want to finish form without upload you are getting "You must choose a file" warning, making it impossible to finish without choosing file. Should it work as optional or required field and not only as required?

Hi,

The latest version of Form Wizard Pro is 2.6.0.3, it requires mojoPortal 2.3.7.0. Both were just released on 2011-09-29.

In the settings for the latest version is an option to make the upload optional.

So if you upgrade your mojoPortal and Form Wizard Pro you will be able to have optional file uploads.
