In-Page Drag and Drop for Item Placement

In edit mode, it would be helpful to be able to drag/drop page elements for layouts - this is available in other CMS products, and our clients are starting to look for that level of in-page editing functionality.  It's already somewhat available in the MyPage editor, so perhaps just an extension of that existing functionality?

Just previewed the resurrected RainbowPortal (now Appleseed) CMS project; MojoPortal still has better functionality overall, but I really do like the ease of editing in the new Appleseed UI.  Since it's also C#-based, and currently on .Net 4.0, perhaps there's some common elements to look at for inspiration.
