Wordpress import

Wordpress it's a resource hog, expecially on windows, and it's so vulnerable to attacks (for some plugins)

I know many people that would love to switch to mojoportal, but are too lazy to import everything to the database manually

What about a function that, given an sql file from wordpress, will import the data in the database?

I think it will be an huge success, but i think it would be very hard to do

Maybe with an "import framework", it could be easier to import from other cms, gradually adding other systems, or something like that

Maybe you could do a $50 tool: wordpress import, or something like that cheeky

Re: Wordpress import

I don't know much about Wordpress having never actually used it myself, but rather than a sql file, I thought that Wordpress can import and export in some xml format? If I could get an example of a fairly large file exported from Wordpress then I could possibly consider trying to support importing from that format.

Best,

Joe

Re: Wordpress import

I have no idea, I never used wordpress, I just had a talk with a friend, he is so disappointed about that, and would like to switch to a better cms

Wordpress can export everything to xml? I mean, entries, categories, comments, and so on, or maybe just the blog?

Re: Wordpress import

If you know someone that is willing to share an export of their Wordpress data please send it to me so I can evaluate what it would take to implement the import. Ideally I would like an export from a blog/site with a lot of content so I can be sure when I implement it that it will work with large exports. I would include anything and everything that they export like comments and posts and categories and anything else.

I think it would be a really good boost for the project if we could import Wordpress data. I am also interested to implement support to import BlogMl which is an xml format that some blogs use, but I think Wordpress has their own format.

Best,

Joe

Re: Wordpress import

Sorry, but there is one another probleblem seems to be if we're talking about moving the site from php to ASP.NET.

I mean the SEO. If I spent a lot of time for the php site SEO it might be a problem with SEO PR after moving to aspx.

I am not sure but I think it could be.

Regards,

Igor

Re: Wordpress import

It is true there might be SEO consequences in moving from Wordpress to another platform, I leave that to whom it concerns whether to migrate, I'm only interested in making it possible from a technical point of view.

I would not want to try and implement anything from a sql dump, but there is a wordpress plugin that imports and exports as xml, and I would consider trying to support import from an xml file or files.

Best,

Joe
