FormWizardPro: Present submitted data in GridView

I think it would be very useful if the FormWizardPro feature would allow for manipulation of submitted data. Presenting the data in a GridView and allowing items to be edited would be very beneficial as it would make FormWizardPro more than just a cool Contact Form.

One should be able to configure the GridView to be viewable by chosen roles so that the information can be presented to more than just administrators.

Hope this one makes it into the product!

Thanks,
Joe D.

Re: FormWizardPro: Present submitted data in GridView

Hi Joe,

I knew as soon as I made it display in a grid someone would ask for that but its really not a table and therefore it would be very difficult to make act like a table. All form responses are really stored as key value pairs along with identifiers for the response set, response and question, I build it into a table for export and recently made it possible to display the fabricated data table but making it editable in a grid would be very difficult. The data table I create doesn't even contain the keys for the responses and questions as that would ugly it up and I can't hide ugly fields because the grid is autogenerating columns based on the created table since the fields are arbitrary based on the form definition. Also it is built to be resilient to changes in the form questions like adding or deleting questions after submissions have been received and it would be difficult to retain that resilience while trying to come up with an edit strategy.

At some point I might make it possible to scroll through responses one at a time in a form view layout rather than a false table and potentially could make it possible to edit in that scenario. The Survey feature has this kind of approach.

Best,

Joe

Re: FormWizardPro: Present submitted data in GridView

I should have upgraded to the latest version of FormWizardPro before submitting my request. I didn't realize you added the GridView to it. This is definitely a great addition to the product.

After reading your explanation, I understand the difficulty of building the edit functionality. Please do keep it in mind though, I think it will make FormWizardPro even better. :-) Maybe I can convince one of my customers to sponsor something like this.

Would it be difficult to allow Administrators to choose who can see submitted data?

Thanks,
Joe D.

Re: FormWizardPro: Present submitted data in GridView

It should allow anyone with edit permission on the page or module to view/export the data, I don't think it is limited to admins. If that is not the case let me know and I will fix that for the next release.

Best,

Joe
