Support for Artisteer

Hello.

We have been using Artisteer for a while, with Joomla. Could aristeer make templates for Mojo Portal ? Artisteer exports also html templates.

That would solve a lot of problem with skins ...

thanks

Re: Support for Artisteer

Hello,

the couple Mojoportal with Artisteer would really be a winning solution.

I also use artisteer some time and the fact is that it do not only use css.
there is some code inserted depending on the king of frames you selected, for example for the 'Article' ot 'Block' classes.

if you have an artisteer template you really want to use, I suggest you export in HTML then start work to adapt the class name... but it'll probably take times depending on you CSS knowledge.

If you can do this, please give your feed backs this will really helps mojo community.

Thomas.

Re: Support for Artisteer

I just wanted to know if it can be done. I'm talking about the HTML export.

Artisteer has saved us in a lot of situations. Also one developper added support for Artisteer in his asp cms in a couple of hours and 10 lines of code.

If the developer of Mojo could take a look and tell us his opinion, it would be great.

Also artisteer support would make a tremendous impact to Mojo.

thanks !

Re: Support for Artisteer

... In fact, a true solution would be to generated a dot net project with artisteer then adapt the way they implemented template oriented controls into the core of mojoportal Innocent. (but this remains risky if artisteer change to much some implementation) Undecided

The best would be to ask Artisteer to implement a mojoportal adaptation ... why not... ?
Now that they did implement the main Cms, they'll probably extend their market with such an adaptation, and mojoportal needs supports like that...

that would helps both product !!

who votes ?

Re: Support for Artisteer

It looks like a very interesting product but it requires the $129 version to make asp.net templates or custom output. I will try to make some time to test the free trial sometime soon and if it looks promising maybe I will buy the full version and see if I can make it export skins for mojoportal.

Best,

Joe

Re: Support for Artisteer

I believe that the trial works for all types but ads a watermark. Not sure.

In any case, IF Artisteer could work with Mojo, is is a great software. Really great. And can make all the difference in the world for Mojo. It will be perfect.

Re: Support for Artisteer

Hello,

Here are some technical feedbacks about using Artissteer (with dot net, not mojoportal but this may helps)

my goal was to have my really simple little 2 tables code, ready to accept Artissteer export :

1. the /App_Code/*.cs class have a little bug (some missing data binding on the caption, I could make a dirty around..)

2. the css class names of artisteer have changed in version 2.?: this is not a problem if you use the provided masterpage with the fixed server controls (/App_Code /*.cs). this must be keep in mind (risks !!)

3. the masterpage produced depend on the layout you choose in the design. I've used a masterPageOverDesign.master cascading master page to hide the main changes (for example when using sidebars or not...).

4. the menu implementation has changed in version 2.2 (when they added the centered menu option) and the LU/LI expected structure also changed. It took me less than an hour to rewrite and test the component I used to generate the list but the pb was here.

Menu implementation changes are not good points, because there is no helper class that can be use in the application (like with blocks and articles)

I used the 2.0, 2.1, and the 2.2… anytime I got a new version; I had to change my code… fast changes… but changes anyway.

My general conclusion is that the solution is really powerful because of the powerfull artissteer designer, but you have to take care with the layouts differences, and also be very careful with new versions of Artisteer...

But may be the product will be more stable in the next releases... probably to be confirmed by future versions ?

I just wanted to warn Joe about those things.

Thomas

And I still vote for consulting Artisster for their position with Mojoportal.. Innocent
