Mini-Calendar on separate page from Event Calendar

I didn't see this on the road map but I hope I didn't miss it somehow.

Would it be possible to have a "mini-calendar" view of the Event Calendar? Basically, I would like to have a mini-calendar on the home page of a site and all dates with events would be bold or highlighted and when a user hovers over a date with an event, details (just the event title and time) would appear. If the date is clicked, the user would be sent to the day view for that date. The original event calendar shouldn't be affected by use of the mini-calendar.

I have seen this kind of setup on a lot of sites and I have had customers ask for it but I haven't found a way to do it with mojo.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

If you can post a link to a good example of what you are talking about I'll keep in in mind for future enhancements.

Best,

Joe

A few of these are PHP but they display the functionality well.

Re: Mini-Calendar on separate page from Event Calendar

Joe(s).  I just came here looking for the same thing.

Full Calendar:
/event-calendar.aspx

List of items coming up for next 7 days:
/default.aspx
When an item is clicked, it goes to /event-calendar.aspx detail view.

I did this a calendar module already.  The trick is linking the two "calendars" together.  I created a module preference for the mini-view where I typed in the ModuleID of the full-calendar and pulled the events from that registered module.

Re: Mini-Calendar on separate page from Event Calendar

Hi Todd,

Are you saying you implemented a solution as a new module? or adding a vote that I implement it?

If you implemented a solution it would make a good tutorial or blog post or community download or all 3.

Best,

Joe

Hey Todd,

Just curious, would you mind sharing your mini-calendar module?

Thanks,

Re: Mini-Calendar on separate page from Event Calendar

Hi Joe,

Several versions ago I implemented a feature in Feed Manager to show feeds on a mini calendar so that you could consume the RSS feed of event calendar pro. Is this not sufficient?

Best,

Joe

Re: Mini-Calendar on separate page from Event Calendar

Hi Joe,

I was curious how Todd implemented his module because what I would like is not quite acheivable with the calendar view on the Feed Manager.

I "need" a mini-calendar that doesn't show the actual events but rather just highlights the days with events and when the user hovers over the highlighted days, a list of that days events is displayed. I don't think this kind of calendar is especially user-friendly but I have two clients asking for it. I have been able to get away with the Feed Manager MiniCal but these two clients haven't forgotten that they want more. ;-)

Thanks,
Joe D.

I will get you the source code today and determine the best method to open it to the public later.

Hi Joe I came to the same troubles that you have, finally you can find a solution for the mini calendar view.
