Empty comments

Very often, it happens that on the blog posts, i have "empty comments"

I do not understand this.

Is possible that dozens of users will write the captcha but nothing in the form?

I checked in the database tables, the comment is really empty....

Re: Empty comments

look at this screenshot

the comments are working, as mine is shown

but there are 3 other empty comments

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/2672/bohb.png

i cannot reproduce the bug, with firefox, internet explorer and chrome, my comment, even if logged out, is shown

or maybe my users are so stupid to write the captcha for 3 consecutive times?

Re: Empty comments

Hi,

I've seen this once in a while and it does seem to be users posting an empty comment. I had a check there for an empty comment but the editor is putting a <p>&#160;</p> there so it wasn't empty, I just added a new check so it won't create the comment if it has only that string. So this should be fixed in the next release.

Best,

Joe

Re: Empty comments

i looked in the database and the comment is <p>&#160;</p>

so, it is definitely not a bug

LOL, 40 comments, 23 are <p>&#160;</p>

Maybe people sees the captcha and fills it without thinking... speechless

...or maybe fckeditor does not send the comment text while the postback? (very unlikely)

Re: Empty comments

Its possibly an automated script somehow getting past the captcha, but in that case we would expect a spam post. It could also be just a single user who makes the same mistake over and over. Maybe he fills out the captcha first and then hits the enter key but intends to fill out the form afterwards. People do strange things.

Best,

Re: Empty comments

It has been confirmed that is a dumb user; look at his user agent:

HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Sgrunt|V109|18|S-126708xxxx|dialno; E-nrgyPlus; Sgrunt|V110|29|S-126708xxxx|dialno; ADVPLUGIN|K113|3|S-126708xxxx|dialno; ADVPLUGIN|K114|03|S-126708xxxx|dialno; ADVPLUGIN|K114|03|S-126708xxxx|dial; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

I am really speechless... how is possible on earth to install SIX dialers/adware/spyware at the same time???

I guess, his computer is a member of how many botnets? Ten? Twenty?

Spammers must thank this kind of dumb user to contribute in sending tons of spam.

To such people, access to the net should be denied forever
