Link blog post to other pages on portal

Link blog post to other pages on portal

Hi,

I have several blog module on my site , using some of them as a Announcement module , I need some time to link mu post titles to any other page or post inside portal, I try to use URL filed and set it same as page url that I ant to be related, but in this case I get error message ( The Url is already in use. You cannot use the same Url for different pages.  ) it's a correct message but I exactly want to link not create a new page.

how can I do this?

If you want to link to an existing page you have to use a fully qualified url like http://yourfuillurl

Thanks for response. I checked it and work, but when I try to link a post title to a file I get this error message:

'~/http://www.khindmine.ir/data/sites/1/a.doc' is not a valid virtual path.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: '~/http://www.khindmine.ir/data/sites/1/a.doc' is not a valid virtual path.

I don't add ~/  to Page URL .

How can I fix this error?

Hi,

Blog urls can't use the fully qualified urls. Pages in the menu can but blogs cannot. It seems a very strange use case to want the blog post url to link directly to a file.  Why not just create a real blog post with a link to the document?

You can link a page in the menu directly to a blog post using the fully qualified url but you can't link a blog post directly with a fully qualified url, it was not designed for that so it does not support that.

Hi Joe, I post her because I was seek for the same feature and maybe you can think a solution that I haven't.

I using a blog module for make my news page, you can see that her http://www.iislafe.es/noticias-del-iis-la-fe.aspx

I also have a page that have to show the news impact in media, something like this http://www.iislafe.es/clip-ping.aspx

I maked the page that show the impacts using a list of links but I need the functionality to search for dates, so I was thinking in using a blog and make the excerpt look like the list that I alredy made, the thing is that i dont want to recreate all the news in this clipping blog, so I think that redirect the url for one blog to the other make the deal, but I cant figure how to achive that.

I try with the Url Manager but the url for the blog post doesn't show there, I also tried to make and entrance in the Redirection manager 301 without results
