CKFinder Integration with FCKEditor

I think a great feature would be the integration of CKFinder into FCKEditor. CKFinder would replace the current filemanager included with FCKEditor and allow users to see thumbnails of images before inserting them, delete files they don't want anymore and a lot more. Take a look at it here: http://www.ckfinder.com/. I have had 3 customers ask for this kind of functionality in the past month.

I tried to do this on my own but apparently the FCKEditor packaged with mojoPortal is modified and I can't figure out where to change the settings I need to change.

Anyway, I hope it makes it into a future release.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: CKFinder Integration with FCKEditor

Well nevermind, I didn't realize that CKFinder isn't free. Oh well, unless people really want this and decide to come together to donate $1,390. This just isn't going to happen.

Re: CKFinder Integration with FCKEditor

Hi Joe,

Yes I think ultimatetly we will have to build something like this ourselves for media management. I plan to look into this at the same time when I start working on an add on package for web farm support. At that time I will need to add an abstraction layer so it can work the same whether the files are stored on disk or in the db via the Web Farm add on. In other words I want it to work the same way from a user point of view whether the files are stored on disk or in the db, it will look and feel like its a file system. I think the UI can be built using a combination of MS AJAX and YUI and jQuery. Thats actually the most fun kind of work to me and the kind of thing I'd like to be working on, but other things are more pressing.

Best,

Joe
