1. is ok if its a config option. I can probably add the config option if you haven't done that.

2. I don't really know what you mean by static email address. The from address used is the one from sitesettings and it should be set to the the same as the email account you are using to send mail (ie smtp settings) or some mail servers will perceive it as spoofing an address and this may trigger spam blocking. I don't see what prevents adding it to a white list as it is now, it always comes from the same address.
