Spanish- Spains translation

Spanish- Spains translation

Hi guys,

 

I have started translating the Resource file and the SetUpResource file to Spanish from Spain. As you know we have the same issues as the UK English and US English :).  I have come accross a possible issue. In Spain (I do not know about any of the other Spanish speaking countries) we find the use of capitals as:

 

Accesss Denied

 

very irritating and even a grammatical error. Should I follow the Spanish idea, where we just use a capital in the first letter of the first word, or should I follow the pattern used in the english translation?

I am translating the resource file directly from the English version to make sure that I do not get "poluted" by the mexican one (no offense), I believe I should do OK because I leave in the UK and I should find the transtaltion quite straight foward. I think I would be able to finish the translation of both resource files for tom or wend.

Hi Mandel,

Thanks very much for your efforts, it will be nice to have a Spanish translation for Spain. When you have it completed, please zip the file(s) and email it to me at joe dot audette at gmail dotcom.

About the "Access Denied", I have to agree that even in English it lacks good use of grammar there. Using capital letters like this is more like road sign grammar ;-D

I'm going to change the English file from "Access Denied" to "Sorry, you are not allowed to view this content. If you have questions about your permissions, please contact a site administrator." Maybe that will make more sense for translation.

There is also another key (EditAccessDeniedLabel) with a similar issue, currently the text is "Edit Access Denied", I'm going to change this to "Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this content. If you have questions about your permissions, please contact a site administrator."

Joe,

That sounds great, what I would do is translate the current values in order to be consistent with the actual state of the values. Once you have changed them I will update them with the values.

I just wanted to let you know that I'll send you the translation this afternoon CET time. I'm sorry it took this long, but there were some variables that I did not know which was the best translation and I had to ask some friends.

I've seen that I have made a couple of error in the translation. I'll will send you soon the update, but what puzzles me the problem with accents. I am sed to write html and usuallly to use the correc accent in spanish you have to use one of this:

é

í

ó

ú

 

Bt it seems that that is not the case with mojoportal. Do you know how should I write the accents and explain me wht I did wrong??

Hi Manuel,

For the resource files you can't put any html in there, just put in the real Spanish characters and they will be html encoded as needed by ASP.NET.

For example  we want to write página (page) we have to write in the resx file

<data name="WebSiteLabel" xml:space="preserve">
<value>Url de la página</value>
</data>

and NOT

<data name="WebSiteLabel" xml:space="preserve">
<value>Url de la p&amp;aacute;gina web:</value>
</data>

is not?
