As the title suggests, the 'Page Description' input box found on the 'Meta Settings' tab of the Page Settings view doesn't translate the the actual page description. The crawlers are determining a description based on the first paragraph of the page and guessing.
Am I missing a setting?
Thanks.
Hello,
Have you checked the source of the rendered page to see what the meta description is?
It is working on sites we manage.
Feel free to send us a link to one of your pages so we can look at it.
Thanks, Joe
Hey Joe,
Happy New Year, and thanks for all you guys do.
As suggested, I looked at the source and, just as you suggested, the meta description is reflecting accurately. I made an assumption based on the Google crawler results; my apologies.
It seems the SERP is reflecting the bots interpretation now instead of what has been supplied. This page has recently went through a 301 Redirect; I'm wondering now if it's related to the switch. For the purposes of a quick solution, I'll attempt to separate the single page into two concepts, remove the 301, and create another page reflecting the alternate page name. I'll report back and let you know if it changes.
I've left a link to an example page below. Thank you again.
