I threw you some style together you can use if you wish, it look like this:

If you would like to use this style, in your skin rename "styledatacalendar.css" to "old-styledatacalendar.css" (in case you wish to use the old style for whatever reasons), then create a new file named "styledatacalendar.css" and paste the code from here (Pastebin) and then save.  That should get you up and running, although you might need to refresh your cache by going to Administration > Advanced Tools > Design Tools > Cache Tool and then click the "Reset Skin Version GUID" button.
