I'm having the same problem and neither I can upgrade MojoPortal files.

my site 4para1.com been runnig for long time and now it been down with Generic 500 for 4 days.

I did what you wrote before came here and post for help. I this point I have requested Arvixe to assist me, because all the researches and comments found about this scenario indicated that issue has to be in the server at Arvixe. hope they can fix it, but I did asked if they can move to another server.
