Verifying Subscribers to Newsletter

Is there a way to verify subscribers to a newsletter without having to send confirmation email?

There is a way from the UI to mark site member email addresses as valid from the ManageUsers.aspx page, but for non site member newsletter subscribers it can only be done by the email that is sent to the address or by direct access to the database, there is not a way to do it from the UI.
