Hi,
I'm new to mojoportal (and not really a web designer but I know a little) and I decided to use it to power my other halfs website after testing against other CMS's it seemed the best choice. I used artisteer (4.0) to design a skin and all appeared ok, I tested it against all newer browsers and all is fine. However when viewing the site in IE8 it appears to have a block running accross the middle of the page, I'm guessing this is some sort of element that isn't closed correctly but I can't track it down, any ideas on the best way to find this?

If it it really is a missing closing tag you can find it using the w3c validator. My guess is that is not the problem because that would likely affect other browsers as well. I will say the support for older versions of IE has not been great in Artisteer since they changed to html 5 in Artisteer 4. I think Artisteer 4.1 works a little better so you may want to consider upgrading to mojoPortal 2.3.9.5 and Artisteer 4.1 and using our updated plugin for Artisteer 4.1 Our demo site has a bunch of skins made in Artisteer 4.1 and they seem to work ok for me using IE 8 mode in IE 10.

Thanks, I'll have a look into those and checkout what versions Im using.. I'm pretty sure its something I've done :-S I now understand why almost every web designer I know curses IE...
Thanks also for a great platform, after trialing about 4 different CMS's for this site this fitted nicely with the functionality required and also is very user friendly! We will be buying you a beer soon :)
I have also found an issue in IE8 with the right column layout in release 2.3.9.5. The version of Artisteer doesnt seem to matter (well I have skins from 3.1 and 4.1 - same issue)
When running IE9 in compatiblity mode (for older IE versions) my right column renders below the center column. The left column displays correctly. If I remove the left column this still is an issue.
When I turn off compatibility mode and run normal IE9 it renders fine.
For the record I hate IE but I always test in it. <sigh>
No issues found in the latest version of Chrome nor Firefox.

That does sound like the same sort of issue, anything in the right column displays at the bottom of the page and there is a blank area in the middle of the page.
I am using mojoportal 2.3.9.4 and the skin was created in artisteer 4.0 (I have just downloaded 4.1 and will attempt to recreate it in that when i can find the project file).
I havent seen it on the demo site at all, I'm pretty sure its something i've done in the theme, just not sure what :)
Well, I've looked into it a bit and havent got any further :( The theme works fine in IE9 and other browsers but IE8 and below the layout is wrong..
Dont suppose anyone has any other ideas on how to find the problem? (Sorry I am new to all this)
Can you post a link to your site? Without seeing the problem it's a wild guess as to what the problem is.

Hi Joe, thanks for your reply sorry I was being dumb there for some reason i thought i had already posted a link to it.. Site is www.cakesyandbakesy.co.uk (This is my first attempt and is for my G/F's business please take it easy on me :) )
If you upgrade your site to mojoPortal 2.3.9.5 and use Artisteer 4.1 with our latest skin exporter plugin I think you will have better luck with IE8
