Website Errors

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with fixing these errors I've been getting on my mojoPortal website.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7147/websiteerror1.jpg

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/7272/websiteerror2.jpg

I also have another issue regarding new members signing up on my website. Apparently, they are not getting confirmation e-mails. Any advice on how to fix this as well?

Re: Website Errors

You should upgrade to the latest version of mojoPortal and the latest version of Form Wizard Pro so that they depend on the same version of AjaxControlToolkit

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Website Errors

I should've put this link, but this is the information on my site's server.

http://www.parentjobnet.org/Admin/ServerInformation.aspx

So I should upgrade to 2.3.9.0?

Re: Website Errors

Yes, but you should also make sure you are running the latest version of Form Wizard Pro. Both mojoPortal core and Form Wizard Pro were recently updated to use the new version of AjaxControl toolkit therefore the latest version of Form Wizard Pro is only compatible with the latest version of mojoPortal and the latest version of mojoPortal is only compatible with the latest version of Form Wizard Pro. To be compatible they have to depend on the same version of AjaxControlToolkit, so whenver we update to a newer version of the toolkit in mojoPortal we always release a compatibility update for From Wizard Pro.

I don't see any purchase history on the account you are posting with here in the forums, to get the latest Form Wizard Pro, you'll need to login as the user who purchased it, then you can download the latest version from the order history tab under "My Account".

I'm not sure what version of mojoPortal or Form Wizard you are currently running but the error indicates they are not compatible because they depend on different versions of AjaxControlToolkit.

The link you posted for server information is a protected page, only members of allowed roles on your site can visit that page ie admins.

You can also find information about system requirements and release history of Form Wizard Pro on the Form Wizard Pro product page.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Thank you for the help. I'll talk to my developer since my boss is trying to get me to fix everything (even though I have limited experience with website hosting/development). I tried to install mojoPortal via Arvixe (my current host), though I don't know if that will solve everything.

Re: Website Errors

Tony,

Let me know if you run into further issues with your Arvixe install - I operate a number of mojoPortal sites there, and haven't had any issues with doing so.

Re: Website Errors

Thank you, Indigo. I want to try and install the latest version of MojoPortal onto my computer and install the Form Wizard. Though I need to download the site files onto my computer first I believe.

Re: Website Errors

Tony,

How did you initially install your mojoPortal instance - from a local version, or from WebDeploy?

Re: Website Errors

Indigo,

Someone else originally developed and installed the website on his computer.

He's busy right now, so I need to download the latest version of MojoPortal, the files from the following website (http://www.parentjobnet.org), and update the Form Wizard to get rid of some bothersome errors we are receiving on our registration forms.

Unfortunately, I am thrown into the fire with perhaps little help as I do not have experience installing MojoPortal and I need to get this project done before September.

Re: Website Errors

We'll get you going on the right path. Do you have control panel access to the Arvixe site, as well as FTP access? And will you be compiling from source, or the pre-prepared deployment files? I'm asking these questions so that I can describe all the steps you'll need in the proper order. If you can also describe your local environment, I can be sure that my instructions are tailored to your situation.

Re: Website Errors

I can tell you for certain that I have access to Arvixe's control panel and FTP access as well.

Originally, our website was hosted on another server before the move to Arvixe. I had access to the files there and worked with the source code, but now I have no access since the move. I think I'm compiling from pre-prepared files. Not really sure.

I have MS Web Installer, IIS 7.0 if that helps. I believe that I have .NET Framework 3.5.

Re: Website Errors

Were there modifications made to the source code other than to the skin and the addition of Form Wizard Pro?

Re: Website Errors

No. My developer added Form Wizard Pro while I only made changes to the skin by downloading the respective CSS files onto my computer.

Re: Website Errors

Good. Are you going to be using Visual Studio for your local environment, or just a website via IIS?

IIS and MS Web Matrix.

Re: Website Errors

OK - I don't use WebMatrix, and the current download keeps trying to load WebMatrix2, so we'll leave that alone for the moment. Which version of DB are you using? SQL Server, or standalone?

SQL Server.

Re: Website Errors

OK, then - that's your first key element.

1. Via your Arvixe control panel, make a backup of your live database, download it, and restore it to your local instance of SQL server, using the same database name.

2. Since you're using the deployable version and not the source code, you can probably get by with downloading all files directly from your Arvixe website to your local instance - update your SQL connection string as needed for your local environment.

3. Test your local instance to make sure everything's working as it's supposed to; no use in trying to upgrade something that's not working correctly.

4. From here, follow the instructions in the article "Upgrading from Previous Versions", with the addition of adding your updated Forms Wizard Pro. If you spot any issues with your layout, refer to "Important Skin Changes", to troubleshoot any issues.

5. Once you've run your upgrades, and confirmed everything's working all right, you can re-deploy your latest local version to your Arvixe hosting account. You can either upload a backup of your local database, and restore it, or run the upgrade scripts manually - your choice.

Let me know if you have any issues with these steps - good luck!

Yes, this is my predicament. It's SQL Server 2008 R2. I just opened up the Configuration Manager.

Re: Website Errors

OK - at least you're using the same version as the one on the Arvixe server. Do you know how to create a database backup via the Arvixe Control Panel?

That's already included in mojoPortal - I don't think you'll need a separate installation.

Re: Website Errors

My boss tried to log-in, but she can't. She's an admin also. I tried to recover her password, but apparently she's not registered. I see her on the member list. I tried to change password and this is what I got:

Re: Website Errors

Thanks, the error is gone.

But, I can't edit my boss' information at all. The site reports her on the Member List, but only if you search for her. If I try to delete her account, all her information is still present. I have not locked her out either. This is really weird.

Try creating a new test account with the same permissions, and see if you're able to see and interact with the test account, and log in with it.

Also, I'm curious on how to make the site map look normal (similar to MojoPortal's site map because the site map on my site looks really bad and I'm trying to fix it: http://www.parentjobnet.org/SiteMap.aspx

Re: Website Errors

You'll need to edit the Asp.Net TreeView CSS. Use FireFox and FireBug to identify which elements you want to change, and how you want it to look, then make the edits in the appropriate CSS.

Oh, and try substituting this for .topnav ul:

.topnav ul {
display: inline;
float: right;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
width: 280px;
}
