Just wondering if there's a way to hide the horizontal menu bar/button while still showing the vertical side menu? I tried the "hide menu" check box on the page settings, but it hides both.

Ah, just answered my own question I think. Unticked "Include in Menu" for Home page and now the content of of the horizontal menu is gone. So now I just have to hide it using CSS.
Will also need to somehow get the home page at the same hierarchical level as the other pages that currently show in the vertical menu.
The Menu Structure document should help you out. For the currently shipping versions, the delivered skin with a vertical menu only is artisteer31-verticalmenu3, available in the extraskins.zip on the mojoPortal Codeplex download page.
