Hi,
I just upgraded to mojoPortal v2.3.8.1 and everything seems to be there except I now have a Forum menu item but it is empty, not a single item is there. When I look into my local copy of the DB there is lots of data to be displayed.
Anyone got any suggestions where to look first?
Thanks
There is no way that mojoPortal lost any data during an upgrade. If you are moving databases back and forth from your local machine to a hosted site that is the most likely way you lost data or else you are not using the database that you think you are using. I don't know what you did so I have no advice on anything to check.
Hi Joe,
I have no idea what I did going from 2.3.5.5 -> 2.3.8.1.
I am not moving databases back and forth I back up the server DB & files once a month and then install a copy on my local machine to I can test in the exact same data pool as is on the server.
I am getting an error in the Log File...
2012-03-12 11:12:01,840 ERROR 76.173.205.135 - en-US - /forums.aspx - mojoPortal.Web.UI.CmsPage - failed to load control Forums/ForumModule.ascx System.Web.HttpParseException (0x80004005): The server block is not well formed. ---> System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): The server block is not well formed.
I cleared the Log file then clicked on the Forums menu item and got the above message... from "not well formed" I thought that it might be that there was a glitch in the upload. So I uploaded the entire new Forums folder from 2.3.8.1 to the server then cleared the cache and reloaded the site then clicked on the Forums menu item again... low and behold your error messaging work I resolved the issue.
All the fFrum entries are there and looking good. Thanks your last email to me about Googling helped!
ThanksPhill
Glad you figured it out! Must be some file got currupted during upload the first time.
So it wasn't missing data it just wasn't showing data because the control was failing to load.
Best,
Joe
