Bulk File Export

Hello -

I am looking for a way to bulk export site files with their original names.  Is this possible?

Re: Bulk File Export

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Can you be more specific what you are trying to do?

What site files are you talking about?

Re: Bulk File Export

Joe - I would like to bulk export files that have been uploaded by users such as those stored in this directory on my test system

\web\Data\Sites\1\SharedFiles

I can, of course, just copy the contents of the directory, but the original filenames would be lost to what look like unique identifiers.

I need this type of capability to ensure that the user-uploaded file content of the site could be ported over to a different system when necessary.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Bulk File Export

There currently is no such feature, you would have to download the files and then reload them in the new system to be sure they retained the original names.

I will keep this in mind for a future enhancement but its a low priority unless someone wants to sponsor development, in which case it could be done quickly :-). I don't think its really an export that we are talking about but a utility to either copy the files to a new folder on the server and restore their original names or perhaps also an option to just rename them in the current folder.

The main purpose in storing them on the server with guid names and .config extension is to secure them. .config files won't be served by plain http request and guids obfuscate the contents.
