Like a master page...

Newbie here...  I am working on my first home page, and would like to have certain content areas contain the same content for every page.  Then, if I make changes to the content in those certain areas, the rest of the pages would automatically be updated like when using master pages in other web builders.

(Example: "Contact Us" info appears on every page.  If the phone number changes, I only want to make the change once.)

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Assuming you have your pages already created and an HTML module with the info you want to appear on several pages (maybe called contact info)

Go into Administration | Content Manager.

This displays a table of your content. For the content item, select publish / delete. This screen can be used to publish the content on several pages (eg, in the bottom pane of several pages).

Re: Like a master page...

Thanks, SpikeMelbost.

I understand what you are saying and that works for manually adding the content to individual pages.

What I really want to do is include the predefined content in a site template so that when I create a new page, the predefined content shows up in the new page automatically.

Thanks.

Re: Like a master page...

Hi,

See Global Content on the bottom of this page which is a more recommended way of doing it, and also see this less recommended way that is exactly what you are asking for, use it if you must avoid it if you can is my suggestion.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Like a master page...

Thanks, Joe!

The less common way is exactly what i wanted, and I got it working wonderfully.

As a side note - I'm using Artisteer to design my sites and have read quite a lot about the complications.  What I have found is that it may be possible to copy the ASP snippets out of a mojo layout.master and insert them into the Artisteer html, making the Artisteer template much more Mojo friendly.

-Any thoughts?

Thanks, again, for your help!

Re: Like a master page...

Hi,

We don't use the html files exported from Artisteer so there is no need to update them.

If you're using the latest version of mojoPortal released yesterday and the new 3.1 version of Artisteer there should not be complications as long as you select the correct starting skin the layout.master file should have what you need.

It should be much easier than previous versions.

Hope that helps,

Joe
