strange error installing 2.3.6.5

Hi Joe, and all you other mojo gurus.  I'm getting a really weird error, installing 2.3.6.5; when I try to start the install by going to the /Setup/Default.aspx, it tells me:

An Error Occurred:Cannot create "C:\HostingSpaces\andriad\realquestions.crypticsites.net\wwwroot\Data\Sites\1\systemfiles" because a file or directory with the same name already exists.

Source:mscorlib

Stack Trace at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, DirectorySecurity dirSecurity) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path, DirectorySecurity directorySecurity) at mojoPortal.Web.mojoSetup.TouchTestFile() at mojoPortal.Web.mojoSetup.DataFolderIsWritable() at mojoPortal.Web.UI.Pages.SetupHome.ProbeSystem() at mojoPortal.Web.UI.Pages.SetupHome.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

I've never seen this error before, so I have no clue what's up, or what to do about it.

Any advice?  Thx much!!

Andria

PS: I thought I might try the install with the WebAppGallery, but the WebAppGallery is only up to version 2.3.5.5 of Mojo, so I sure don't want to install that.

Re: strange error installing 2.3.6.5

Well, I still haven't got any clue what's up with this installation, and although I would rather run a more recent version than 2.3.5.5 (which is what's available via the webappsgallery), I guess I could go ahead and let the webappsgallery install that 2.3.5.5., then upload the new files of 2.3.6.5 for an upgrade (checked out the upgrade notes, and it looks even more amazing than previously, and that's really saying something!).

Think that would work, install old and then upgrade it to new?  I really want to get this installed, it was a site that got mislaid during my recent wholesale domain relocation (I finally got ALL my stuff, even the Linux stuff, on Arvixe -- they really rock, but especially their linux servers!!), and since it's a friend's site, I'd really like to get it put back before he notices it's not there. (can you say, OOPS!?)  I guess he can't really complain, since I'm doing it for free, but still, it makes me feel bad to renege on anything, even inadvertently.

Thx,

Andria

PS: I recently had the opportunity to support someone with one of my skins, and the gridview files -- this is getting to be more and more of a biggie, that virtually all the gridview files are intended for a site with a light bg; on my dark-bg skins, none of the text will show well, or at all -- if I send you the modified GlassBlack gridview that I use, can you make it available?  I've run into this situation about a half dozen times now, and it always seems to be the gridview stuff that causes the problem.  I suppose the file should be renamed, so as not to be confused with the default GlassBlack.  I've got another one that looks awesome on a dark blue background also.

Of course, I've been so busy recently with my linux stuff that I'm way behind on what's happening with Mojo these days, so maybe this has already been addressed.  If so, 'scuse me.  Just trying to help! smiley yes

Re: strange error installing 2.3.6.5

Hi Andria,

It sounds like when you install mojoPortal you are copying it from an existing installation. If you are doing that you should

  • delete the /Data/currentlog.config file
  • delete the contents of the /Data/Sites/1/index folder
  • you can safely delete the /Data/systemfiles and /Data/Sites/1/systemfiles folders, they will be re-created

This is similar issues to moving a site to a different server.

If you'd like to send a darker GridView theme I'd be glad to include it.

Best,

Joe
