Feed Manager Links to Site Blog

Post any feedback here related to improving the accessibility or usability of mojoPortal. As stated in our Accessibility documentation, it is an important goal of the project that both the front-end customer experience and the back end administration and content publishing features be accessible to as many people as possible. Ideally, if you post about problems, we will also be glad to have suggestions on how the problems can be fixed but all constructive feedback on these issues is welcome.

Feed Manager Links to Site Blog

Hi,

I have added a feed manager module that subscribes to a feedburner feed from my site's blog. I am having trouble understanding the logic of this configuration. I could have sworn that originally, the feed manager on the home page (http://www.fpan.net) had two links displayed, one to the feedburner blog and one to my site's blog page. The feed burner module now shows two links both of which point to the feedburner link.

Can someone please tell me if (and how) the feed manager can be configured to show the blog page from my site and if there is any advantage to having the feedburner links in the feed manager?

I am using Metaweblog API via Windows Live Writer to publish the blog posts to my site.

When you add a feed to Feed Manager there is a place to put the feed url and a place to put the site or blog url. If you have Feed Manager configured to show individual feed links, the feed icon will link to the feed and the text link will link to the site. It sounds like you put the feed url in both places.

Thanks Joe,

In the Feed Manager settings, I have the "Web Site Url" pointing to my blog page and the "Feed Url" pointing to my feedburner URL. I have now changed the value in the "Link" column of the "mp_RssFeeds" table to the URL for my blog entry and this works fine.

Perhaps I haven't configured something somewhere, when I have more time I'll go through the code.

I have just noticed that the Feed Manager URLs have reverted back to the feed burner Urls,

the Settings I have are;

Web Site Url: http://www.fpan.net/fpan-blog.aspx

Feed Url: http://feeds.feedburner.com/fpan/moiV

Entry Cache Time In Minutes: 1390

When the Entry Cache Time expires, does it reset the feed URLs?

Hi Vince,

You are talking about the blog not feed manager. In the current release of the blog it links directly to feedburner, nothing changes due to cache, in the new release coming in the next few days it will redirect to feedburner instead of directly linking as discussed in this thread.
