Re: Custom folders

Installation is an infrequent activity and I don't think one should make the Web.config file writable in order to make an infrequent activity more convenient at the expense of security which is a daily concern. If your customer is happy/happier with a web app that requires all files to be writable that is not my concern but your and his.

If you find my work useful great, if not great. I gave a candid response with my real thoughts on the matter. Sorry you find my answers so unreasonable, but it is not my goal to please everyone.

Good luck in your endeavors.

Joe

Re: Custom folders

Again you're still assuming you know the implementation. You know the old saying about when you assume.

Re: Custom folders

Yes, I assume I know more about mojoPortal than you and I know what is possible and not possible without complex changes.

Yes, I am assuming that I will be the one to fix any security issues that come along in the future.

Yes, I assume I'm right that is is bad idea for others to fork the code on a large complex open source application and take on long term maintenance of their fork themselves.

Yes, I assume that any code changes that go into mojoPortal are things I will have to own and support for a long time to come.

I am not assuming but am sure that I don't like any of the ideas you have put forth and with each response you have made I have become more sure that I don't want or need any help from you specifically.

You have your assumptions and I have mine.

Again, good luck to you.
