Shared Hosting - Arvixe

Has anyone tried the shared hosting with Arvixe yet? I've been using GoDaddy for most of my stuff just because its dirt cheap and most of my work is for non-profits where dirt cheap is preferred. But the performance is always an issue, even with the keep-alive code.

I'm assuming it's at least fairly good since Joe moved mojoportal.com to on of their dedicated servers.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Shared Hosting - Arvixe

They gave me a test account on shared hosting to evaluate it and it seemed pretty good to me. It was full trust so you could use NeatUpload and I did not notice any performance issues in my casual testing. It seemed to work well.

Of course I would also like to hear from anyone who does use Arvixe for mojoPortal and how it works out for them. They even asked me to let them know if anyone reports problems using mojoPortal on Arvixe.

Best,

Joe

Re: Shared Hosting - Arvixe

I have been with Arvixe for about a year for my personal website. Everything works fine and the support is very impressive. Only problem I met is something about setting the folder permission. Have discussed with them in the following thread, not sure whether they have fixed that.

Re: Shared Hosting - Arvixe

I've been with Arvixe for nearly a year to the day, and I've found the service and support to be excellent.  The price really can't be beat, either - I paid just $6.40 a month for a two-year contract, which includes unlimited domains, subdomains, storage, and data transfer; full email features, SQL 2008, MySQL 5.x; the latest .NET support; and full trust, as Joe mentioned.  They also allow you to connect SQL Management Studio direct to MSSQL via TCP/IP, which is a big plus in my book.

I'm hosting both .NET and PHP apps on this plan, and both run well.  Had some issues with email alias/forwarding, but they've been responsive and have always resolved issues relatively promptly.  The control panel (DotNetPanel) is decent.

Oh, and by the way, FTP speed is excellent.  I feel like I'm on a Linux plan with that speed; it beats IIS-based FTP by a long shot.

I only just recently set up MojoPortal on my plan, and am setting up four sites as we speak.  Host name mapping is working perfectly with it.  Performance is excellent so far.  Very happy camper here!

Re: Shared Hosting - Arvixe

Hi,

I switched to Arvixe shared webhosting from MochaHost in March this year. MochaHost was just impossible to work with their control panel. For the money I'm pretty happy with Arvixe. Had no issues and the performance is fine for the price ($6.00/month).

regards

Re: Shared Hosting - Arvixe

My manager and I have 4 mojoPortal sites each and have had so many problems with up and down hosting the last 2 years.

We both switched to our own ARVIXE PersonalClass ASP Pro ($8.00/mo) last week.

I setup and upgraded all 8 mojoPortal sites from ASP.Net 3.5 to 4.0 with no problem.  The Arvixe Control Panel MS SQL server tools simply restored my old xxx.bak database backups. I had 2 questions for support that were answered promptly.  We are also both impressed with the speed/bandwidth which is much better than our last hosting.

Mail and FTP both work great also.

Transferring 8 mojoPortal sites from a different ISP was a good test and ARVIXE passed with flying colors.

Re: Shared Hosting - Arvixe

I have to say, that personally I would stay away from GoDaddy. I am using it now for a few of my websites and having nothing but problems. It's true though, it is quite cheap compared to the alternatives.

I am also thinking about trying out something new now. Looking for a cheap shared webhosting is always a pain, comparing the different services is so damn hard. Just from reputation, I think Arvixe is good, but I personally haven't tried it yet.
