Error in Blog Content type Creation

Joe,

Getting this error page when creating a blog content type in the Content Manager:

/Error.htm?aspxerrorpath=/Admin/ContentManagerPreview.aspx

We're sorry but a server error has occurred while trying to process your request.

The error has been logged and will be reviewed by our staff as soon as possible. It is possible that the error was just a momentary hiccup and you may wish to use the back button and try again or go back to the home page.

Not sure what to do about this; it was working last night...

Update: There's a lot of exception information in the System Log pertinent to this error, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Won't post it here unless you tell me that's what you'd like me to do.

Thanks!

D. T. Doutel

Re: Error in Blog Content type Creation

The blog should not be created from content manager, it cannot be used on multiple pages and should be created on a specific page and never moved to a different page.

I need to figure out a good solution for content manager because we do want the features listed for searching even if it can't be created in content manager or used on multiple pages. There are several features in this category. I will figure out something to solve this for the next release.

Best,

Joe

Re: Error in Blog Content type Creation

Hi Joe,

I understand about the blog only being displayed on one page. But if you don't Create it from content manager, where would you create it from? Hadn't moved it or tried to display it on multiple pages; what I had done was to delete a second site (according to directions). That's why this is so puzzling. At any rate, I started from scratch, uninstalling and reinstalling mojoPortal.

Thanks for the reply, Joe; much appreciated.

Re: Error in Blog Content type Creation

After you create the page you want to put the blog on, visit the page then click the Edit This Page Link or if using an older skin it may be a pencil icon near the upper right corner. It takes you to PageLayout.aspx where you can create feature instances and add them to the page.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Error in Blog Content type Creation

Ah! Got it; I assume the same applies to the Calendar content, which also must be used only on a single page?

Thanks, Joe; this is an important distinction to keep in mind!

Re: Error in Blog Content type Creation

Hi,

What database platform are you using? I'm not getting an error testing with MS SQL and no error when I try to create a blog from content manager on demo.mojoportal.com.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Error in Blog Content type Creation

Hi Joe,

I'm using SQL Server 2k8 on my hosting account at Arvixe.

Let me give you the sequence of events.

  1. I had created the blog (as noted, from the Content manager) and placed it on a page.
  2. It was working without problems for a couple of days.
  3. I then removed a second website I had inadvertently created out of ignorance.
  4. A few hours later, upon navigating to the blog page, it told me that the page couldn't be accessed.
  5. Thereafter, any further attempts to recreate the blog failed, with the stack trace indicating inadequate permissions to the folder, even though the folder permissions had been set per mojoPortal installation instructions. Unfortunately, the log appears to have wrapped, as I can no longer locate the error in it.

At this point, I was fortunately not far along, basically just familiarizing myself with the mojoPortal features and administration, so I started from scratch.

 Best,

D. T. Doutel
