Google Maps Get Direction From Issue

Google Maps Get Direction From Issue

Hi Joe!

"Get Direction From" returns no result for some locations.
I reproduced the issue on all my mojoPortal installation and on your demo site by enabling the Get Direction Option.
For example, you can try with "Como" as location from value.
No direction, No map and no error messages.

"Como, Italy" works fine.

It doesn't surprise me that more specific location is required to get directions.

In any case I have no control over what is returned by google.

Of course you should enter more detailed "From" info when you ask for Directions.

I just wanted to be sure that the issue is on Google's side.

It's curious though that for other towns (bigger and smaller) it works fine just with the town/city name.

I don't know how the Goggle Maps API works but I just think that for a better user experience a feedback message from Google for the unsuccessful queries would be nice.

One thing I have noticed is that the api is a little different than the google maps page. For example when creating a map using a location posted to the api it must be an exact match for them to make a map, whereas in the google maps page whatever you enter for location is basically a search and it brings back a list of possible exact locations. I imagine its a similar issue with driving directions. It would be nice if they returned something that says no matching location found or if they returned the first search result even if it isn't an exact match of the entered location.
