feedmanager issues

I wanted to retrieve the date of the blog, and the the content of news, and put in a feed, I know I do it for feed manager, and I do not know how do you put the code, I now learn asp.net and I am half lost, I am a student of information systems, and I'm in a project, and one of the requirements of the project is to recover the date and content,

I appreciate the attention and time you

Re: feedmanager issues

I think you are posting the same question as you did here: http://www.mojoportal.com/Forums/Thread.aspx?thread=3619&mid=34&pageid=5&ItemID=4.

Please do not post your question multiple times as it doesn't help get it answered. I will try to answer your question but I think we are having a communication problem because of our different native languages.

If I have read your question correctly, you want to retrieve blog posts via the Feed Manager and you want the date for each post included in the feed. If that is not correct, please say so.

To do this, all you need to do is the the url of the blog's RSS feed to the feed manager. The date shows up automatically when doing this, in fact, I don't think you can remove the date from the posts using the feed manager.

HTH,
Joe

Re: feedmanager issues

I think maybe he is asking a developer question but I also don't really understand what he is asking.

If you are looking for a way to parse rss in code there are helper libraries like RSS Toolkit and Argotic Framework to make it easier to consume and manipulate feeds.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: feedmanager issues

hi,

First, I want to apologize first for asking several questions on the same subject, and also apologize for my English.

Joe Davis

That's exactly what I want to do,

how do I retrieve the url of the blog's RSS feed to the feed manager?

Sir, can you explain?

Joe Audette,

thanks for the tutorial,

being of great value,

Thank you for everything.

Re: feedmanager issues

You do not have to apologize for your english.

What site are you trying to pull the blog from? Usually sites will have a link to their RSS feed, if you click on that link and then copy the URL, you can paste that into the Feed Manager.

To add a feed to feed manager, click on the Add/Edit Feeds link next to the gear icon on the feature instance.

Re: feedmanager issues

joe,

I wanted to like this site, http://www.bhpc.org.uk/. they recover from your own blog, and link the rss, called news, recoverin the title, date and a piece of content.

On my site, I'm also hyperlinked to my feed for the blog, and in the feed, it retrieves only the actual feed name, and I gotta recover, date, title and a piece of content. thanks joe.

Re: feedmanager issues

Do you have the "Show Headings Only" option enabled in the Feed Manager settings? If so, disable this option.

Would you mind sharing a link to your site?

Re: feedmanager issues

Okay, give me the Feed URL from the Feeds Manager for the feeds that are not working properly.

You can also try hitting the "Clear The Feed Cache" button in the Add/Edit Feeds page of the Feed Manager.

Re: feedmanager issues

joe

I don't  have a feeds manager,

will do I need to use FeedRinse?

Is there any way I direct the news blog soon to feed?

I've cleaned the cache FeedManager.

My links to the feeds are being driven manually.so I think isn´t  recovering.

I'm confused, I thought you were having trouble with the mojoPortal Feed Manager, is that not correct?

Re: feedmanager issues

You do not need to use 3rd part feed managers unless you want to perform automatic filtering.

I suggest you start over:

  1. Delete the current mojoPortal Feed Manager feature from your page.
  2. Add a new instance of the mojoPortal Feed Manager to the page.
  3. Go to your blog and click on the RSS link
  4. Copy the url of your blog RSS from the location bar in your browser
  5. Go back to the mojoPortal Feed Manager and click Add/Edit Feeds
  6. In the Feed URL box, put the url of your blog RSS that you copied from step 4

Hope this helps,
Joe

Re: feedmanager issues

Hi,

I am trying to show external content on my website using feed manager. I have added RSS feed url, but I am not able to see the content on my website. Currently I have hosted my website locally so I cannot share the link to you to show you the problem. I have followed all the steps mentioned in the documentation, but still no content is displayed.

Please let me know if I am missing anyting here.

Re: feedmanager issues

Please disregard my request, its a proxy setting issue. Its resolved by adding proxy settings in system.net of web.config file.
