It appears in the Feature list, and I am able to select it from the list. But when you click to view the page, i get the error page. Could you please guide me as to where i am wrong? Re: Form Wizard Pro Installaion Problem

Hi,

Thank you for your purchase and the beer! Very much appreciated.

What version of mojoPortal are you using?

In order to help I need to know what the error is.

First go to (Key) Administration > System Log to view the log.

There is probably a lot of stuff logged there, the newest errors are at the bottom. Often its easiest to find out the error if you clear the log first then go and cause the error to happen with Form Wizard then come back to the log and see what gets logged there. Try to find the error that you think is the right one and copy and paste the error details here in the forum but leave out other errors as much as possible.

Once I can see the error I should be able to help.

Best,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro Installaion Problem

Hi,

I'm sorry but that is a very old version of mojoPortal. If you look on the system requirements tab for Form Wizard Pro, it indicates that version 2.3.0.8 or higher is required. This also requires ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 which has been a requirement of mojoPortal ever since version 2.2.7.8 whereas the very old version of mojoPortal you are using only requires ASP.NET 2.0.

The only solution is to make sure you have .NET 3.5 SP1 installed and upgrade your mojoPortal installation, ideally to the very latest version.

However, note also that there are siginificant changes in our skinning model since your old version of mojoPortal, so if using a custom skin you will need to update your skin according to this document.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro Installaion Problem

Hi Joe, I just missed the version number there. Actually i had selected webhostforasp.net to host my mojoPortal site. They had an automated installation of mojoPortal which i believe is outdated. Any ideas on how i could upgrade from the present version to the latest version with my content intact with the hosting guys.

Re: Form Wizard Pro Installaion Problem

Hi,

1. Verify with webhostforasp that you are hosted in ASP.NET 3.5 SP1. If not request them to move you to that environment.

2. Assuming you have your database connection string in a user.config file at the root of your installation then you don't have to worry about losing your conection string when you upload the new version. So check for the existence of a user.config file and then check that it has your db connection string. If not look for the user.config.sample file and copy it, rename it to user.config, copy your connection string from Web.config to user.config.

3. Backup your current Web.config file on your local machine just in case.

4. Download the lates release mojoportal-2-3-1-6-mssql-deploymentfiles.zip. Extract the file on your local machine.

5. Connect to your hosting using the free tool FileZilla (an ftp client). Your control panel should have the needed info to connect via ftp or ask your host for help or check their documentation.

6. One you are connected with filezilla, upload first the /Setup folder from the extracted files so it overwrites/merges with the existing folder of the same name. Then upload the /ClientScript folder, then the /Data folder, then the rest of the files.

7. Visit yoursiteroot/Setup/Default.aspx so it runs the upgrade scripts.

8. You may need to re-selct a skin in Site Settings.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro Installaion Problem

I just realized I forgot to tell you one step. The way skins are implemented changed a lot since your previous version. The upgrade process installed the updated skins in the skin library but it did not update the skins used by your site.

You should copy all of the folders from beneath /Data/Skins into /Data/Sites/1/skins to update the site with the correct skins. The old ones may look ok but there are a number of things that will work better if you update to the new versions.

Best,

Joe
