Well, you will need to get the user id of the user and the role id of the admin role and hook it up manually in the mp_UserRoles table.

If you add a user to a new role like admins, the user will need to sign out and sign back in again before the role cookie can be updated. So the user if already logged in will not see the admin icons immediately after you add him to the role.
