Blog - author email / comment notification settings

Hi Joe

Not really bugs or feature requests, but some questions/observations on these blog settings...

The blog has a setting "Author Email" and the help makes it clear this is to specify who will receive a notification when "Notify me when someone posts a comment" is switched on (when using the internal comments system).

Firstly, unlike most other email config settings, this doesn't work if more than one email address is entered (comma sep). I would like two people to receive notifications of any comment on this blog.

Secondly, wouldn't this setting be better located within the "Comment System" config section, rather than the "General" section?

I've logged this in our project tracker to look into when I have time. As I recall when we added support for multiple authors in the blog we made it notify the author email ie the email on the user account that is the author of the post (maybe in addition to the "Author Email", can't recall off the top of my head).

Hi Joe, yes there's obviously some history of change behind what we have arrived at now.  It does notify the actual author of the post, plus the email (single) configured in the "Author email" setting.

I have a situation where I really need notifications of blog comments to go to three users.

Is this a likely fix/enhancement in the immediate future?

If not, I fear I'll have to move all the blog content into a forum instead, where multiple users can subscribe. The blog was working well because of the categories, but in my situation it will only succeed if all relevant users are notified about all comments. Perhaps I should have used a forum from the start, but the simpler blog format with categories and archives has several advantages.

Sorry but no it isn't. For at least the next 3 months I plan to focus almost exclusively on my add on products to shore up my revenue. Even after that this will be a low priority for me vs other things that need to be done.

If it is a high priority for you you could submit code changes that implement this, you could even model it from the code in contact form.
