Is there a way to lock the instance when edits are in progress?

Is there a way to lock the instance when edits are in progress?

I keep running into this. With several people editing content we are overwriting each others work. Is there an instance lock feature some type available?

No way to lock it, but as a workaround I'd recommend you consider turning on Content Workflow. You can put the instance into draft mode right away when you start working on it, so any other editors looking at that instance will see that it's in draft mode and know it's being worked on.

We have had this problem too - see this thread where Joe A said he'd consider adding some protection. Jamie's suggestion to switch on workflow can help, but I still feel a more immediate solution would be possible and welcome.
