Hosting Multiple sites with one mojoPortal install - Host Names

Hi Joe,

I have mojo installed at http://www.interneteventregistration.com/ and have created a sub-domain through the Arvixe control panel AND I have created a new site (second site) under administration at http://www.interneteventregistration.com.  I have walked through the steps but must be missing something.  When I go to the site http://www.sample.interneteventregistration.com/ it says the standard start up message.  How do I get it so that I can access mojo, without having to install it for the sub-domain?

We'll Have More Soon

This domain is being hosted on Arvixe. This site is currently under construction and we will have more for you soon.

Appreciate your help!!

Laurena

Re: Hosting Multiple sites with one mojoPortal install - Host Names

Hi Laurena,

Arvixe uses Website Panel (WSP) for their hosting control panel, as does my hosting company, i7MEDIA.

Within WSP, to attach a domain to an existing website, you must create a domain alias, even if the domain is a sub-domain. So, you should delete the website that is named with your sub-domain (sample.interneteventregistration.com) and then delete the sub-domain (sample.interneteventregistration.com). Once you do this, you can create a domain alias and when you do this, you can select the option to point it to an existing website and select your interneteventregistration.com website. The domain alias pointing to your working mojoPortal site will setup the correct "headers" or "bindings" in the web server so that site will get requests for the sub-domain. mojoPortal will handle the rest.

If you need further helps with it, you should probably contact Arvixe Support because it's beyond mojoPortal's configuration to make it work.

HTH,
Joe D.

Hi Joe,

Thank you so much, that is exactly the information I needed.  Arvixe's description was website pointer, and that worked like a charm.  I am new to this, really appreciate your help!!
