if it's not possible, can you provide a general design (using just words) of how it can or should be implemented?
maybe I can do it and provide it back, because I'm in need of it for a current project.
You can embed videos from YouTube or any other place that offers embed code, just the same in a blog post as in the Html content feature. You copy the embed code and paste it in the html view of the editor, just the same as I have done with my training videos.

unfortunately the client requires the video files be hosted on the same server + some customizations on the player.
something similar to the video module, but in a blog post.
You can also directly embed some media types using the media toolbar in the editor. But if you need customization you may need to create your own javascript or player and embed code.
